I do resonate with the idea of us all listening to one another and trying to find common ground. That said, I don't feel *any* compulsion to listen to people speak when they have already demonstrated both 1) a commitment to a different set of values than my own and 2) a willingness to set aside truth and human empathy in service of power. I don't respect their values, agree with their positions, or believe their words—so I don't have any interest in listening to them speak for an hour.
